Do my documents go over the internet?
No. Mungap reads documents on this computer and keeps what it read in an encrypted file on this computer. Everything Mungap sends over the internet is listed under "What Mungap sends over the internet" in the privacy policy. You can see the same list in Mungap's Settings.
Is it free?
This version is free to use. Optional features (for example reading again with AI) may become paid later; we will tell you before that happens.
I see a warning when installing
Mungap is not yet signed with a certificate from Microsoft or Apple, so you may see an "unknown app" warning the first time you install or open it. Open it this way only if you downloaded it from this website (the wording may differ slightly between versions).
- Windows: in the "Windows protected your PC" window, choose More info, then Run anyway.
- Mac: try to open Mungap once. If it is blocked, go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway near the bottom.
How do I get new versions?
Mungap checks once a day whether a new version is available and tells you on screen. Choose Install new version to download it, install it and restart. It won't install while documents are being read. To stop the check, turn it off under "What Mungap sends over the internet" in Settings.
I want to turn off usage statistics
In Mungap, go to Settings › "What Mungap sends over the internet" and turn off "Send usage statistics". Everything else keeps working. You can also see there what was sent.
What if I change computers or mine breaks?
Make an encrypted backup regularly (Settings › Encrypted backup) and keep it somewhere else, such as a USB drive. On the new computer, install Mungap and choose "Start by restoring a backup" on the first screen. See Backups in the user guide.
Something went wrong
In Mungap, go to Settings › Send a problem and describe what happened. You will see exactly what will be sent before you send it. The contents of your documents and employee details are never included.
